Select Pool Party Decorations

There are at least 101 different themes that you can use for a pool party and probably thousands of different party decorations that can go along with those themes. With the great number of warehouse and convenience stores, as well as the Internet, you have many choices when it comes time to select decorations for your special occasion.

Instructions

Be Creative With Pool Party Decorations

1. Select unique items when you decorate. Bring in some fake palm trees, a tropical roll up scene that can be placed on a fence and haul in some sand (placed on heavy plastic). Add a few beach towels and lounge chairs and you have an authentic looking beach.

2. Go with the old standbys, like balloons and streamers. These options are always in style and are usually reasonably inexpensive. They can add tons of color to otherwise dull areas of the yard and certainly announce to everyone that a party is going on.

3. Use pool toys as decorations. After you select a color scheme for your party, buy several matching beach balls, inflatable tubes, lounges and bright towels. These act as decorative accents for the pool area and can also be used by your guests.

4. Decorate the serving table with sea shells, starfish or children's shovels and pails. These all evoke a nautical or ocean feel and can be found around the house or purchased inexpensively.

5. Use candles and flowers to decorate when the occasion is more formal. Inexpensive candles and votive holders can be found at discount stores and flower can be purchased at most local grocery stores. Place the candles throughout the pool area for a magical effect. Flowers bring an air of romance and decadence to a buffet or when placed on individual guest tables, just make sure that they are well-hydrated so that they remain fresh throughout the party.

Tips Warnings

Buy decorations in bulk. Many online stores offer discounted prices when you buy 10 or more of a particular item. Some stores also provide free shipping when you spend over a specific amount of money.

Buy several large, plastic containers and store your decorations in them after your pool party. By keeping your decorations dry and cool, you will be able to re-use them year after year. Make sure to mark the outside of the containers so that you will know what is in each one. This will save headaches when it comes time to use them again.
