Fix Cellular Blinds

Fix Cellular Blinds

Cellular shades are constructed with a piece of fabric with pleats. These blinds are available in an assortment of different fabrics and colors, which can help coordinate with almost any home decor. After continued use, parts begin to wear out. If the blind itself is in good condition, it may be less expensive to repair the blinds yourself rather than purchasing a new set of blinds. Cellular blinds can be fixed with a few materials.

Instructions

1. Install a new shim or clip in the head rail or long metal piece at top of blinds to fix cellular blinds that droop at bottom. Open up blinds all the way with pull cord. Pull out the old clip from the head rail with needle-nose pliers. Push the new clip into place in the notches below the metal bar on the underside of the head rail. It will lock into place and should remedy the problem.

2. Slide the head and bottom rails of the fabric to restring the blinds if the string is broken. Untie the knot in the bottom of the cord and pull off the plastic washer. Unwind the string from the blinds.

3. Cut the string with scissors and each cord should be double the length as the blind plus the width. Use a needle to thread the string through the opening in the cord lock and through the holes in the blinds. Shove the needle through the opening in the bottom rail.

4. Push a plastic washer on the end of each string a make a knot in it. Slide the head rail and bottom rail back into place.

5. Slightly bend one of the blind's brackets if it has difficulty rolling up and down. Lightly pound the side of the bracket with a soft mallet hammer to make more space between the blinds so it rolls up easier. Replace the bracket if this does not work.
