Install Levolor Mini Blinds

Levolor manufacturers a complete line of window treatments, but the name has become synonymous with mini blinds, the narrow version of classic venetian blinds, utilizing the same adjustable slat design for shading control. The procedure for installing Levolor mini blinds is an easy homeowner project, and you can avoid the expense of hiring a professional.

Instructions

1. Determine the mounting location for the Levolor mini blinds. The included mounting brackets offer the option of installing on the face of the wall surface above the window or under the window jamb.

2. Measure the full width of the window's opening from the inside face of the jamb on both sides. Place a pencil mark on the top horizontal jamb or the wall surface, depending on the preferred mounting orientation, at the center point of the window opening. This is the center mounting bracket location.

3. Mark the two side mounting bracket positions by measuring in horizontally 2 inches from the vertical side jamb on each side. Place the pencil mark on the top horizontal jamb or the wall surface. These two marks are the end mounting bracket positions.

4. Remove the three mounting clips packaged in the mini blind's headrail.

5. Mark the mounting clip's screw holes. For wall mounting, position a clip centered on a layout mark, with the rear angle against the wall surface and the bottom edge flush with the edge of the jamb, and mark the two screw holes. For top jamb mounting, position a clip centered on a layout mark, with the top angle against the jamb surface and the front edge flush with the edge of the jamb, and mark the two screw holes.

6. Repeat Step 5 for the remaining two end mounting clips.

7. Install the three mounting clips. Use a center punch or awl to poke a pilot hole for the screws, then insert the two screws provided to secure each clip.

8. Install the mini blind by positioning the headrail at a slight angle against the mounting clips. Then, rotate the headrail up to snap it into the clips.

9. Attach the top hook on the slat control rod to the adjustment loop located at the end of the headrail. Turning the control rod will adjust the slats for light control.

10. Install the plastic hold down brackets. Allow the mini blind to hang in place and mark the bottom rail end location at each side on the wall surface or bottom window jamb, as applicable to the mounting method. Secure the hold down brackets to the wall surface or window jamb using the screws provided. The small pin on the hold down brackets inserts in the hole in the ends of the mini blind's bottom rail to hold the blind in place at the bottom, if desired.
