If you have a one of these types of phones a family member or friend has told you you could have, you have probably noticed that it seems almost impossible to activate it. The problem is that these prepaid companies will tell you that you have to tell the account holder to cancel their account. Sounds easy right? Well it isn't. The problem is that these prepaid companies do not give customer service to customers with suspended lines. You will not be able to speak to a representative if you call on a suspended line instead you will be directed to the automated system which only gives you the option to pay the past due balance in the original phone owner's name just to turn the phone back off and then on again in your name. Well, most people don't want to pay someone else's past due balance for them just to use the phone. You might as well buy a new phone out right if that is the case. Also if you really don't know the person you got the phone with you are definately screwed because you won't know their contact information to pay off teh balance even if you wanted. Sounds like a bad situation right? Well luckily there is one easy solution to all of this....
Instructions
1. WAIT! Prepaid cell phone companies cancel the account themselves typically 30 days after a line has been suspended. So yes you might have to wait a month but you WILL be able to get the activated after that waiting period.
2. In 30 or 31 days call the company and tell them you have a phone that needs to be activated. They will have no record of any past duw balance by this time and will go ahead and turn the phone on for you in your name.
3. You might have to pay an activation fee of $15 dollars. But hey, at least you didn't have to give up this phone you spent money buying from someone or got as an act of kindness for free by a friend or family member.
