Problems With The Nikon D40

The Nikon D40 is a DSLR camera that is recommended for beginners because of its ease of use. It's fairly expensive, but comparable to other cameras in its class. There are no electronic flaws with the camera, but there are some problems that people find with the usage. However, they do not affect the performance of it.

Lenses

The lenses of the Nikon D40 require an internal motor in order to use the auto focus function. This makes the lenses more expensive than other auto focus lenses.

RAW+JPEG

This camera shoots in various degrees of JPEG formats, ranging from low resolution to high quality. However, if you shoot in the RAW+JPEG, there is no option for the JPEG format. So, while you get a shot in RAW, you only get a JPEG shot in standard format. This may not matter for the beginner, but for a more advanced photographer, then it may be an issue.

Auto Focus

The auto focus that comes with the D40 has only three points. Using auto focus gives the lens the power to focus on the subject. The less points, the less places that are focused on in the shot. More expensive lenses have more focus points.
