Clean White Wooden Blinds
There are several techniques you can use to clean your white wooden blinds. But the most important thing to remember is to clean them frequently so that unsightly dust doesn't have a chance to build up. Never use water on real wooden blinds--it could warp the wood. If you must use a cleaning agent, use one specially made for wood furniture, such as Pledge, Murphy's Oil Soap or Orange Glo.
Instructions
Dusting
1. Purchase a magnetic type duster (such as a Swifter duster) or a microfiber cloth that is designed to grab and hold on to dust. Feather dusters only push the dust around and into the air.
2. Close the blinds. Run the duster or microfiber cloth over the surface of the wooden blinds.
3. Open the blinds and close them with the slats pointing in the other direction. Run the duster or cloth over this surface of the wooden blinds.
4. Open the blinds fully. Examine and clean off any dust on slats you may have missed.
Damp Cleaning
5. Select a cleaning agent made for wood. Close the blinds fully. Spray the cleaner onto the blinds.
6. Wipe the wooden blinds with a lint-free cloth, removing any dirt and dust.
7. Reverse the direction of the wooden blinds to see the other side.
8. Spray this side with wood cleaner and wipe with the lint-free cloth.
