The Difference Between Kicker Ik500 & Ik501

Kicker is known for its speaker brands. From home to car audio, Kicker provides a variety of speaker systems. This includes the IK500 and IK501 iPod docks with speakers. There are a variety of small differences between the two systems, including size, outputs and features.

Compatibility

The iK500 powered speaker system can dock iPod classics and iPod Nano as well as the video iPod. Conversely, the newer iK501 works with the iPhone and iPhone 3G as well as the fourth generation and newer iPod media players.

Dimensions

Whereas both the iK500 and iK501 have the same 9.2-pound weight, their dimensions are different. The iK500 is 19 1/4 inches wide by 8 7/16 inches high by 8 1/2 inches deep. The iK501 measures 19.2 inches wide by 8.5 inches high and 8.4 inches deep.

Accessories

Both the iK500 and iK501 have an AC power cord and auxiliary input for MP3 players, but the iK501 features a 2-foot auxiliary cable and carrying handle.

Remote Control

The iK500's remote control handles the basic functions for your iPod, including play, pause and track skip. The iK501's remote handles those same functions, but its remote is a thinner, credit-card size.
