Waypoint Icons To A Garmin Vista Cx

Garmin Vista CX is a portable navigator that you can use wherever adventure takes you. You can use this hand-held Garmin GPS to identify your location and find trails, parks, geocaches, addresses and intersections. One of this unit's features is the ability to save locations or landmarks into memory for easier access later. These saved landmarks are referred to as waypoints. You can create waypoints on your Garmin Vista CX in three ways.

Instructions

Using Your Current Location

1. Press and hold the "Mark" key on your Garmin Vista CX until the "Mark Waypoint" page appears.

2. Highlight the name that the GPS has assigned to your new waypoint (your current location). This shows on the right of the screen as a three-digit number.

3. Press "Enter" to open the keypad and type in the name you wish to give to your current location waypoint. Highlight "OK" and press "Enter."

Using the Map

4. Open the "Map Page" on your Garmin Vista CX. Move the pointer to the map item you wish to save as a waypoint.

5. Press and quickly release the "Enter" key. This captures the location of the pointer and opens an information page for this map item.

6. Highlight "Save" and press "Enter." To change the name or other information of this waypoint, highlight the name field and press "Enter." Type in the new information on the on-screen keypad and highlight "OK" and then press "Enter."

Using Coordinates

7. Go to "Create a New Waypoint" on the Garmin Vista GX's menu. This opens up the "Waypoint Page."

8. Highlight the "Location" field and press "Enter." This opens up an on-screen keypad.

9. Use the Garmin "Rocker" key above the screen to enter the location coordinates. Highlight "OK" and press "Enter."
