Set Up A 3g Iphone For Internet Use

The iPhone 3G is similar to a miniature computer in your pocket due to its ability to access and display HTML websites using the 3G network and its built-in Wi-Fi capabilities which can download large files or music within seconds. As part of your contractual agreement with AT&T, you must sign up for a data plan, which allows you unlimited data use for Internet and email access.

Instructions

1. Press the home button. The home button is located at the bottom of your iPhone's screen. Slide your finger across the screen to unlock the phone, followed by tapping the "Settings" button on the screen.

2. Slide your finger across the Wi-Fi toolbar. The Wi-Fi button will switch from off to on, which will bring up a list of wireless networks. Select an open wireless network, which doesn't have a lock icon next to the Wi-Fi signal. For your own network, select your network and enter the password. When Wi-Fi access is turned on, your phone will automatically join the network.

3. Exit out of the settings. Press the "Home" button to return to the main screen, and tap the blue button that says "Internet" to access the web. Turn your phone horizontally to change the layout of the Internet screen.

4. Tap the "Settings" icon to set up your mail account. Touch the tab labeled "Mail, Contacts and Calendars," and tap "Add Account." Select the account type that you have, followed by entering your name, email address, password and a brief description of the account. When you are done, click the "Save" button at the upper right hand corner of the screen.

5. Access email by tapping the Email icon on the home screen. Your phone will automatically check for new emails every 15 minutes, 30 minutes or hourly using the Fetch feature on the iPhone. The more your phone checks for new information, the more of a drain it is on your battery.
