Hook Up Your Camera To The Computer Like A Webcam

Use the USB function of your digital camera to use it as a webcam.

You can hook up your digital camera as a webcam as long as it features a USB capture mode. The Windows operating system comes with native utilities to access the functions of a webcam and capture video right to your hard drive. Once the connection is complete, you can use the camera for web-conferencing and in conjunction with chat software, just like a built-in device.

Instructions

1. Plug the USB cable into the USB jack on the camera and insert the other end into an open USB port on your computer.

2. Turn on the camera and press the "Menu" button. Select the "USB Capture" option in the settings menu.

3. Click the Windows orb and click "All Programs." Click the "Windows Live Movie Maker" option in the list.

4. Click the "Webcam Video" button on the toolbar and an image from the camera will appear on the screen. Click the "Record" button to begin capturing video right to your hard drive.
