Benefits Of Using Rfid

RFID can help you recall the tainted package.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a form of auto-identification; bar coding is another. RFID is growing in uses and decreasing in cost.

Hands Free

RFID makes automatic reads, which saves labor and increases accuracy. It also allows you to wave your passport, credit card and so on for instant approval.

Line of Sight

RFID uses a radio signal, so it does not require line of sight (like bar codes). An item may be obscured in the center of a pallet of goods or in a grocery bag and still be counted.

Read Rate

RFID in some configurations can read several hundred items in seconds (useful in retail, checking inventory and so on); bar code can read perhaps one item per second.

Implantable

RFID is implantable in animals (and humans if they so choose); this allows animal farmers to monitor thousands of heads of cattle and zoologists to monitor the movements of fish, deer, birds and other animals.

Traceability

With RFID, any tagged item creates its own history. Thus, expired medicine, contaminated foods, lost items or simply an item of inventory may be traced to its last known location.
