Use A Garmin Nuvi 350 For Geocaching

If you have a GPS device and you have not heard of geocaching, then you are seriously missing out on some fun. Geocaching should be thought of as treasure hunting for grownups. Using your Garmin Nuvi 350, you can locate--on foot--the exact location of small, secret treats and treasures that have been put in place by other Garmin users. You will often find that there are geocaches within walking distance of your home, sometimes no more than 0.2 miles away. Follow a few simple steps and you will be on your way to finding treasure.

Instructions

1. Connect the Garmin Nuvi 350 to your computer and upgrade the Nuvi firmware using the Garmin software. Download the Custom POI (points of interest) Loader onto your device from the Garmin software.

2. Select your desired information and then run a geocaching query. Choose the results that closely match your location or any location you wish to hunt and have them emailed to you in GPX format.

3. Open the email and extract the GPX files into your Custom POI Loader to add them to your Garmin Nuvi. Disconnect your GPS device from the computer and power it on.

4. Select "Where To" on your Nuvi, followed by "My Locations" and then "Custom POIs." If all was done correctly, your chosen caches will be available to browse. Use your Nuvi's Off-Road and Pedestrian settings once you are in the area of a cache. Use the Skyview mode when you are right on top of it.
