Kodak Camera Flash Troubleshooting

If the flash on your Kodak camera is not working properly, try troubleshooting before sending the camera in for repair or purchasing a new camera. Troubleshooting will be especially valuable if your camera is no longer under warranty or was damaged in such as way as to void the warranty. Also, when you purchase any Kodak camera, make sure you register your product. This allows Kodak to send you upgrades and helpful suggestions and it assists technicians in helping you with your problem.


Checks


Do not disassemble the camera yourself unless you are a fully qualified professional. Make sure your camera has fully charged batteries, and check the user manual ensure you are putting the correct batteries into your camera. Remove and re-insert the memory card. A faulty memory card can cause a flash problem.


Check the manual for your camera to see whether it mentions your problem. Consult Kodak.com and the Frequently Asked section to see whether the problem you are experiencing is listed online. Typical warranties last 12 months. If your camera is older than 12 months, it is probably no longer under warranty.


Troubleshooting


Turn your camera off, then back on again. If you still have flash problems, turn off the camera and install batteries that are the correct type and fully charged. Test your camera again. Make sure the camera is in flash mode. Consult your user guide if you are unsure switch the flash mode on. Take a picture and see whether the flash fired.


Extras


Try resetting the camera by going to the Menu and finding the Reset feature. Shoot a picture in a well-lit environment where the flash will not be needed. Then shoot a picture using the flash. Consult an authorized Kodak repair service facility, or consult Kodak directly if the problem persists. Check online or your user manual for proper contact information.
