Use A Ge Answering Machine

By the beginning of the 21st century, many people had ditched answering machines in favor of voice mail provided by their phone companies. Others had dropped their landline altogether in favor of cell phones. But there's still a segment of the population that prefers to keep their home phone along with some spending money by not paying the phone company extra for voice mail. That's where a digital answering system---such as the GE 29875---still comes in handy.

Instructions

1. Plug the telephone cord built into the back of the answering machine into the phone jack on your wall.

2. Using a small telephone cord, connect your phone to the answering machine. The jack is marked "Phone" and is located on the back of the system in the left-hand corner.

3. Plug the AC power cord into the back of the system and into a wall outlet. The AC jack on the answering machine is located next to the phone jack.

4. To set up your outgoing message, locate the "Greeting" button on the left of the answering machine. Press the button and record your message. When you're finished recording release the greeting button.

5. When the "message counter," located in the center of the answering machine below the speaker, is flashing, you have messages. To play your message(s) press the "Play" button, which is located directly below the message counter.

6. When listening to your messages you can skip forward or backward by pressing the "Previous" or "Next" buttons, which are located directly below the "Play" button.

7. When you're finished listening to a message, you can delete it by pressing the "On/Off/Erase" button, which is located on the far right of the answering machine. This button also acts as your power button.
