Install Xm Radio With Sureconnect

XM SureConnect is one of the easiest ways to hook up XM in your vehicle. Use an available FM radio frequency to enjoy all the music, sports and entertainment that XM offers. Everything you need comes in your SureConnect kit, so getting it all set up is a quick, straightforward process.

Instructions

External FM Antenna

1. Locate the FM antenna on the outside of your vehicle. Connect the coupling clip to the base of the antenna, then slide the boot over the clip.

2. Wrap the cable wrap around both the antenna and the cable coming from the coupling clip to keep the cable secured against the antenna. Slide the coupling clip up to allow you to wrap the cable.

3. Run the cable from your antenna to your XM receiver on the dashboard or vent. Run it at the bottom of the weather sealing to prevent leakage. For specific cable configurations, refer to Resource 1 below.

Internal FM Antenna

4. Locate your inside FM antenna. It should be on the rear windshield above the defogger, but may also be on the front windshield or side window. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual if you cannot find it on your own.

5. Clean the inside glass around the FM antenna thoroughly with a rag and glass cleaner. The glass should be warm and dry before you install the antenna.

6. Mount the contact bracket. It can be mounted either horizontally or vertically -- whichever makes it less obstructive to the windshield view. Align the arrows on the contact bracket with the antenna.

7. With the position set, remove the film from the adhesive backing of the bracket and press it into place on the antenna. Hold it down for 15 seconds to ensure a full bond.

8. Snap the coupling clip vertically onto the bracket.

9. Route the wire to the XM receiver in an non-intrusive path. Run it on the door trim or window trim so that it is out of the way of passengers. Also keep it out of the way of your view out the windshield.

Connection to Receiver

10. Connect the input cable from the coupling module to the antenna jack on the XM receiver.

11. Mount the XM antenna on your vehicle's roof. Route the cable into the car and hook the XM antenna cable into the coupling module jack.

12. Plug the power from your XM receiver's power jack to the 12-volt power adapter. Turn the XM on. You can now find an unused FM frequency to broadcast your XM channels.
