Proform J4i Specifications

Sometimes all you need is a basic machine.

The Proform J4i is a basic treadmill that is no longer manufactured by. It does not include any preset programs, has no heart-rate monitor and does not feature iFit technology or MP3-player hook-ups. It does, however, have a power incline and some basic features that might make appealing if you can find one being sold at a low price.

Power Incline and Speed Controls

This treadmill comes with a power incline, meaning the incline is adjusted for you without you having to manually get off the machine and adjust it. You also control the speed. The former involves the use of a button, the latter a switch.

Power Key

The power key is a safety feature that is common on many treadmills. You must insert the key fully into the power switch on the display, or the machine won't turn on.

Folding

This treadmill is a space-saver model. You can fold the walking platform up against the display so that you have more room when not using the treadmill. A storage latch will keep it in this position.

Holders

The J4i includes a water-bottle holder and a book holder. Placing a book or magazine on the book holder will, however, block the display.

Display

The display is in the form of a quarter-mile track that lights up as you walk or run to show you how much distance you have covered and how many laps you've done. It also shows time, distance, speed and calories in their own separate windows. The calorie display switches between total calories burned and fat calories burned. There are no preset programs.
