Kenmore dishwasher door leak

Kenmore dishwasher door leak

I have a Kenmore dishwasher that is leaking water from the front door in the lower right hand corner. I have already tried the following to remedy the situation. - Verify level - Verify float swith operation and water level (1/4 inch below the heating element) - Replaced door gasket, verify door alignment and door latch operation - Check washer spray arms for splts or damage - Check plastic tub for cracks, damage - Verify water inlet valve operation This is a Kenmore 665.15958792 (Whirlpool) I can see the water sputtering out the lower right hand corner of the door (actually the tub). There is no obvious damage to the tub or the door. The rubber door gasket goes around three sides of the tub and at the bottom of the door to tub is a plastic to plastic interface. I have experimented with a piece of string which I can put into the dishwasher and pull out with the door closed if it is placed perfectly in the lower corners. I am not sure if this is by design or not, but think not. Perhaps the lower corners of the door and tub have become worn with age ? Is this possible ? I am thinking of filling in the lower corners with some silicone caulk or somthing. Anyone tried this successfully ? What kind of substance would stick to this kind of plastic ? Thanks in advance for any ideas. Hello: BNorth Thanks. For posting a well written, fully detailed, well explained problem description including all prior attempted solutions. In my personal experiences with this type of problem, I have found a buildup of excessive dishwasher soap residue, which has hardened on the door and the door frame. This dried scale and residue prevents the door from sealing perfectly with the door. I removed the door entirely, cleaned the inside surfaces of the door completely, all the surfaces that seal around the door. Than did likewise to the frame area around where it meets the door, etc. You have already replaced the gasket, which is required also. If the door is not loose on it's hinges, out of adjustment, lines up properly, locks and seals well, after all the cleaning should than seal completely and thightly around the entire surface. Attempting to seal the door surfaces with silicone will not resolve the problem. Doing so will make the problem worse, most likely. Since the door may not than seal evenly around the entire surface, etc. Remove the new gasket, clean everything and everywhere to insure all soap dried on residue is removed. Re install door gasket. Be sure door gasket is installed correctly. Some are designed to only fit correctly in one direction. May be possible to install gasket in the wrong direction without even knowing it or visually noticing it until a close inspection reveals such.
