If you're going to have an employee-appreciation party, it should not be a half-baked effort. A poorly planned party for employees could be even more detrimental than having no party at all. Design the event so your employees will know you took care and time to put together an exceptional occasion. Luncheon
Set up your employee-appreciation party as a long luncheon. Give your employees a half-day and at noon, bus them to your venue, which could be a hotel banquet hall or the back room of a restaurant. Decorate the location with your company colors and provide your workers with a formal three- to five-course meal that they won't soon forget. After lunch, present your workers with practical gifts, like gift cards or jewelry with a personalized message that recognizes the hard work of each employee.
Award Ceremony
Plan an awards ceremony for your employees, with award categories that are similar to what you would see at a real show. For instance, you can give awards to the best organizer on a project or best team player. You can even insert office humor with awards like fastest text messager in a meeting or best coffee brewer. Make sure that all of the award categories that you create have a positive spin. You do not want to risk creating animosity for the sake of humor---you simply want to show your employees that they are appreciated and valued.
Comedy Show
To make your employee-appreciation party a hit and lighten the mood to make everyone comfortable, considering having the event at a comedy house. Book the location just for your employees and make sure the comedians have acceptable content that would not offend any of your workers. You can also hire a comedian to come to your venue and ask specifically for office-related humor.
Family Day
Your employees might appreciate an opportunity to include the entire family in the employee-appreciation day. This way, you can recognize an employee's hard work in front of her loved ones. So plan a family-day picnic in a park. Include games and entertainment that would appeal to the kids and have a barbecue. Recognize each employee informally for his hard work midway through the event and then allow everyone to socialize and enjoy themselves for the rest of the day.
