Mygig Multimedia Troubleshooting

The MyGig car navigational radio's CD player may jam or radio presets may fail to save. When an external device is connected, such as an MP3 player, you may not hear any sound. Error messages, when displayed, give clues to what's going on. Determine best troubleshoot your MyGig with and without receiving a trouble prompt.

Instructions

1. Force the disc to eject if it becomes jammed. Press the "Nav" and "Seek Up/Seek Down" buttons at the same time if you have an RER model radio; press the "Audio" and the "Seek Up/Seek Down" buttons at the same time if you have an REN model radio.

2. Review the radio station saving process if presets do not save. Tune in to the AM/FM station you want to save. Press and hold down a preset soft-key on the right. Wait until the preset changes to a green color, then release it when it turns yellow.

3. Increase the volume on the radio if you cannot hear the sound from an MP3 player or other externally connected device. Gradually raise the volume on the device until you hear sound at a desired level.

4. Check for a pinched antenna cable behind the driver's side A-Pillar trim if the "Module Failure" message is displayed. The SDAR antenna may be shorted. If the message is still displayed, contact a service technician to check for a loose or bent pin at the back part of the radio.

5. Disconnect the negative battery terminal if the "Emergency Update/Error (256): failed to flash update ifs" message is displayed. Wait one hour, then reconnect the negative battery terminal to finish the software update.

6. Contact a service technician if the "Tag Not Found" or "Not applicable/NA msg" message is displayed. An internal hard disk drive failure has occurred and the radio must be replaced.
