Compare Lithium Batteries

Batteries

A lithium battery is a rechargeable battery that works through the movement of lithium ions from negative to positive while in use and positive to negative while charging. They can be compared based on application/use, chemistry, size and shape.

Application/Use

Lithium batteries vary based on what they will be used for. A lithium battery that will be used for a toy will typically not be as expensive or have the same shelf life or size as a battery used for computers or medical devices.

Chemistry: Primary and Secondary

Lithium primary batteries are not rechargeable and are designed for years of use for low-battery replacement in items such as medical devices. Lithium secondary batteries include the rechargeable sort and are used in devices such as laptops and cellular phones.

Size and Shape

The size of the lithium battery can be either standard or specialty. Standard sizes include AAA, D, and 9V. Specialty cells include button cells and battery packs specific to a device.
