Qcam Surveillance Hookup Instructions

You can record your own security footage.

If you have valuables stored at your home or office, it is always a wise decision to install your own security system. Q-Cam is a wireless CCTV (closed circuit television) service that allows you to monitor anything and record the video feed. Q-cams are motion-based devices, so nothing is recorded until the camera detects movement. (This helps save on hard drive space.) To set up your equipment, it takes a few moments of your time and a computer installation.

Instructions

1. Position the Q-cam in any location. This may be on a wall, ceiling or floor. Hold the base in place and secure it with four screws, through the four screw holes on the base. If placing the Q-Cam in cement, you may need to drill a hole in the cement first.

2. Repeat this setup process with all the Q-cams you are using.

3. Power down the computer you want to use the security hardware with, then disconnect all cables and remove the Phillips screws on the rear of the case. Slide open the computer to expose the interior of the system. Toward the back of the computer is the large motherboard, and on the rear of the motherboard, facing the back side of the computer, are horizontal PCI card slots. These slots allow you to install additional computer hardware, such as the DVR (digital video recorder) card that comes with the Q-Cam system.

4. Insert the DVR card into one of the open PCI card slots, then push down on the small, plastic slots located on both sides of the slot. This locks the card into position. Once it is in place, close the computer case, tighten the Phillips screws and plug the cables back into the computer.

5. Power on the computer and insert the driver installation CD into the computer. Wait for the installation wizard to load, then follow the prompts of the wizard to completely install the driver. Once the installation is complete, eject the CD, then insert the software installation CD into the computer. Accept the end-user agreement, then follow the prompts to install the software. When a prompt appears, stating the installation has finished, you are now all set to begin using the hardware because the hookup process is complete.
