Panasonic Pt Ax100u Vs Panasonic Pt Ax200u

The Panasonic PT AX100U and the Panasonic PT AX200U are home theater projectors that can support both 16:9 aspect ratios and 4:3 aspect ratios. 4:3 aspect ratios are common with older televisions and some DVDs; 16:9 is a theatrical aspect ratio common in HDTVs, some DVDs and BluRay DVDs. The AX200U is simply an upgraded model of the AX100U.

Screen Size

Because the AX200U is simply an upgrade to the older AX100U, both projectors are capable of projecting screens of the same size. The smallest recommended screen size is 40 inches diagonally at 16:9 aspect ratio. Both projectors are capable of projecting up to a 200-inch diagonal screen at 16:9.

Projection Distance & Keystone Correction

Both projectors can mount either on a table or on the ceiling. Because they aren't parallel to the screen, keystoning--when either the top or bottom of the projected image appears narrower than the opposite edge--can occur. Both projectors can correct keystoning problems up to 30 percent of total image size. Both projectors work best at a distance of between 3 feet, 11 inches and 40 feet, 8 inches from the projection screen.

Brightness and Contrast

The AX100U and the AX200U both offer 2,000 lumens in high power mode. They both offer uniform brightness over 85 percent of the screen, with a 15 percent drop off in the corners. They both also offer a 6,000:1 contrast ratio.

Connectors

Home theater installations need to be able to connect to TV tuners, video tape machines, DVD players and BluRay players. Different systems require different connectors; some connectors offer better image quality than others. Because the AX100U and AX200U projectors are in the same family, they offer identical available connectors. However, the AX200U offers two HDMI connectors, while the AX100U has a single HDMI connector. Both models offer single S-video, video in, PC in, component in and serial in connectors.

Resolution

One of the main upgraded features of the AX200U is its ability to display full 1080p HD. Both projectors have a maximum native resolution of 1280 by 720, or 720p. However, the AX200U uses a compression system to achieve full HD 1080p resolution, or 1920 by 1080 resolution.

Gaming Mode

Although the AX100U can be used for video gaming, its response can sometimes be a little less crisp than other game displays. The AX200U fixes this issue by adding a gaming mode with faster scan rate and response.
