Pandigital Computer Connection Problems

A computer connection is necessary for transferring content and installing firmware updates on a Pandigital Novel. These eReaders run on the Android operating system and connect using high-powered USB 2.0 ports. When connection becomes a problem, it can often be narrowed down to faulty USB connections, computers and media storage devices. Inspecting the components that aid in connection can restore Pandigital Novel USB connections for blazing data transfer speeds.

System Requirements

Pandigital Novel eReaders are compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. However, if your computer doesn't meet the recommended system requirements, you are likely to run into connection problems. Pandigital Novels are compatible with Windows XP and newer operating systems (32 or 64-bit). In addition, a minimum processor speed of 1.0 GHz or higher, a minimum of 256 MB of RAM and up to 500 MB of available disk space are necessary to run Pandigital Novels properly. Before connecting your eReader, verify your computer meets the system requirements. If you are using Windows, clicking the "System Information" control on the Start menu will display your computer's information. If you're using a Mac, view system information by clicking the Apple logo and clicking "About this Mac."

USB Problems

Pandigital Novels connect using a USB cable attached to the USB port on the eReader and the computer. If the USB cable your using is faulty, your computer won't recognize the eReader as an external hard drive. USB hubs can also cause connection conflicts because they may be incompatible with Pandigital Novel, so connecting the eReader directly to the computer may solve the connection problem. In addition, other USB devices may cause connection conflicts, so disconnecting them and connecting the eReader to the computer alone may improve connections.

Media Cards

Pandigital Novels are compatible with SD/MMC Cards. Before connecting your eReader to the computer, verify that the card you're using isn't damaged or corrupt. In addition, check the lock feature on the side of the card and verify it's in the unlock position, or the card will be write-protected. If the SD/MMC card isn't properly formatted, you may run into problems. If you're using a Mac, formatting the card with FAT32 option allows the eReader to recognize it.

Tips

Installing the latest system updates on your computer can improve connection problems. In some cases, the connection problem may be with the reader, so pressing and holding the "Power" button for at least 10 seconds will reboot the device, which may solve connection problems. If you're still experiencing connection problems even after performing these troubleshooting steps, contact Pandigital support for additional troubleshooting.
