Care For A Bellawood Floor

Bellawood flooring adds charm and beauty to any home. Whether you have Bellawood prefinished domestic or exotic wood flooring, proper care is essential in maintaining the integrity of the floor. Bellawood floors boast a 50-year residential and five-year commercial warranty; however, if the wrong cleaning products and care methods are used on the floor, the warranty may be voided. Care for your Bellawood floors properly to ensure they last for many years to come.

Instructions

1. Sweep or vacuum the floor every few days to get rid of dust and dirt that may scratch the floor. According to the manufactuer, you should clean the floor as needed only with the Bellawood Floor Care Kit, which includes floor cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the mop head and use it to mop the floor. Avoid damp-mopping the floor; water on your Bellawood floor may cause damage. Wax or oil-based products and other household cleaners should never be used on your Bellawood floor.

2. Blot up spills and liquid from the floor promptly. Wood is porous, so the longer the liquid sits on the floor, the more likely it is to do damage. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe up the spill, then dry the floor promptly with a clean, dry cloth.

3. Put long-bristled floor mats at the entrances where you have Bellawood flooring installed. These mats will help to catch sand, dirt and grit that may scratch the floor. Place mats in places that are exposed to moisture, such as in front of the refrigerator or sink, as well.

4. Put felt pads underneath the legs of chairs and furniture to keep them from scratching the floor. Replace the pads as they become worn. Extremely heavy furniture or items should be protected with rubber cups.

5. Protect your floors from excessive exposure to sunlight by putting up blinds or curtain in spots that are susceptible to direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can fade the wood over time.
