Connect An Indoor Antenna To A Tv & Converter Box

Connect an Indoor Antenna to a TV & Converter Box

With the conversion of all on-air broadcasts to digital from analog in the United States, a digital converter box is now necessary to receive television programming on older analog sets. The converter box can be connected to an indoor antenna to improve broadcast reception to the TV. A coaxial cable is needed to connect the antenna to the converter box and RCA-type audio/video cables can be used for an improved signal from the converter to the television. All of the components can be connected in minutes without special tools or equipment.

Instructions

1. Disconnect all components from the power supply.

2. Attach a coaxial cable to the 'RF Out' jack on the back of the indoor antenna base, using the coupler on the end of the cable. The coupler fits over the threaded jack on the antenna base and secures by hand-tightening clockwise. Take care to insert the coupler with the steel pin inside straight into the jack without bending or breaking the pin.

3. Connect the coupler on the other end of the coaxial cable to the 'RF In' jack on the back of the converter box in the same manner.

4. Plug a set of RCA composite audio/video cables into the converter box 'A/V Out' jacks, using the yellow plug for the video connection, and the red and white plugs for the right and left stereo audio connections.

5. Reconnect the power to the TV and the converter box, and plug in the indoor antenna's AC adapter if it is a powered, amplified antenna.

6. Extend the two telescoping antennas and adjust for best picture reception.
