Program A Tivo Remote For Directv

If you own a DirecTV/DirecTiVo unit with a remote control, you can try programming the remote to control on your own. DirectTV/DirecTiVo have peanut-shaped remote controls that can be used universally and are interchangeable. So if you have a TiVo remote that is peanut-shaped, it would be easier to program with these simple steps.

Instructions

1. Turn on your TV.

2. Press the button on upper portion of your TiVo remote control where it allows you to go to receiver, auxilary and TV modes. Choose or slide the switch to the one where it says "TV."

3. Press the "Mute" button and "Select" button at the same time. Wait until a small green light at the top of the TiVo remote blinks twice.

4. Enter the code to use which comes with your manual. You can check for your TV codes online or call customer service (see Resources below). If you are unsure of the code, try entering 9911. This code may not work for the latest models or the really old models.

5. Press the "Channel Up" button, then release; repeat this a couple of times until the TV turns off, then press "Select."

6. Turn the TV back on.

7. Repeat Step 3.

8. Enter a code that came with your manual or a universal code of 960.

9. Locate the switch at the top of your TiVo remote control and slide it to where it says "DTV." You are now all set to use DirecTV.
