Repair Scratches On A Lens

You can fix scratches on your glasses with household items.

If you are not careful with your eyeglasses, you might find yourself with scratches on the lenses. This can occur for a number of reasons, such as continuously dropping them on the ground, leaving them exposed on an abrasive surface or not placing them in their protective covering when you are not wearing them. Scratches on your lens can be repaired with some household items.

Instructions

Glass Lens

1. Squeeze a small amount of white, granulated toothpaste on the scratched area of the lens.

2. Smear the toothpaste on the scratches using a cotton swab. Allow the toothpaste to sit for several minutes.

3. Rinse the lens with warm water until the toothpaste residue is gone.

4. Dry the lens by blotting with a non-abrasive hand towel.

Plastic Lens

5. Place some Armour Etch on a cotton swab.

6. Rub the Armour Etch on the scratches using a cotton swab.

7. Allow the Armour Etch to set in for about five minutes and then rinse the lens off with warm water until the Armour Etch residue is gone.

8. Blot the lens with a non-abrasive towel until it is dry.
