Make My Black & White Picture Upload

Once your black and white picture is uploaded, you'll be able to share it with the world.

Black and white photography allows you to pay close attention to the subtle details of a scene or subject -- the effects of lighting, tone and shadow are more apparent when color is withheld. If you've captured a moment in black and white and wish to share it, you'll need to upload it to your computer's hard drive. Depending on whether you're working with a digital file or a film negative, your method of uploading will vary.

Instructions

Using a USB Cable

1. Connect your digital camera to your computer with a USB cable. The camera's USB port is often located to one side of the body. Your computer's USB ports will be located on the front or back panel of the tower. If you are using a laptop, they will be on the left side of the computer.

2. Turn your camera's power on and switch to Review or Playback mode. This allows the computer to recognize the camera and will initiate the transfer of your picture.

3. Follow the prompt window that appears on your screen. You will be asked to choose a save destination for your picture. Click "Import" or "Upload" once you have selected a destination.

4. View your picture by visiting the save destination you chose. You can now email or print your picture if desired.

Using a Scanner

5. Open your scanner's lid and place your black and white film negative into the scanner's negative adapter. Ensure that the scanner is connected to the computer and a power source.

6. Close the lid and press the "Scan" button.

7. Read the prompt window that appears. You will be asked to choose a scanning resolution (measured in dpi or dots per inch), file type (JPEG or TIFF) and a save destination. Once you have chosen your desired settings, click "OK" or "Scan" at the bottom of the window.

8. Visit your save destination to view your images.
