Features Of The Samsung Vpdx100 Digital Dvd Camcorder

The Samsung VP-DX100 Digital DVD Camcorder records picture and audio onto DVD.

The Samsung VP-DX100 Digital DVD Camcorder first became available in the spring of 2008. The camera is available only with PAL (Phase Alternate Line) analog video format, which denotes line count and frame rate when transmitting and therefore is generally only available in the United Kingdom. It is a compact camera and easy to operate for consumers new to video cameras.

Body Features

There is a 2.7-inch colored LCD screen and a separate color viewfinder, which allows for easy camera operating and playback monitoring. The VP DX100 comes in the color black and weighs just under a pound. The dimensions of the camera body measure 2.1-by-4.8-by-3.5 inches.

Lens

The lens has a 34X optical zoom and a 1200X digital zoom, with lens lengths from 2.3 mm to 78.2 mm. The aperture stop range is from f/1.6-f/4.3. The focus can be adjusted manually or be set to automatic mode.

Battery

The camera uses one lithium ion rechargeable battery. The battery life is approximately one hour. An instant power feature allows the camera to be ready to record moments after it is turned on. There is a battery life monitor on the LCD screen with a 10-step increment.

Picture

The camera shoots in standard definition digital at a 16:9 format. The sensor, which determines picture quality, is 800k pixels. There is a USB and an AV composite out port for convenient linking to a computer or television. An electronic image stabilizer keeps the image from blurring due to movement.

Audio

The VP DX100 has a built-in microphone which has an electric condenser, providing stereo-quality sound. Another feature uses a voice-plus dubbing system, which allows the user to add commentary to previously recorded footage.

Format

There is a USB and an AV composite out port. The camera records on various DVD types: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD+R DL, all 8 cm in size. The type of DVD used to record, rewritable or not, will determine whether footage is either immediately available to be seen on a DVD player or be edited in the camera.
