Remove Photos From A Camera Using Usb

USB cables allow you to transfer your images quickly and efficiently.

Removing pictures from your camera may seem tricky, especially if it is your first attempt at doing so. However, there is one way that can make the process easy and stress-free. A universal serial bus, or USB, can be used to transfer data quickly between a computer and a device such as a camera. The vast majority of digital cameras are USB-enable, which makes removing your photos from your camera easy. By following a few simple steps, you can remove your photos using a USB in no time at all.

Instructions

1. Connect the USB cable to your camera and your computer. Most digital cameras include a USB cable as part of the package. Connect the corresponding ends of the cable to the USB port on your computer, which is usually found on the front or back of the computer tower, and your camera. As a safety precaution, turn off your camera during the connection process.

2. Turn your digital camera on. If your camera needs to be in a certain mode to transfer images, set it to this now. Once you have switched your camera on, it should appear on your computer as a hard drive. Simply double-click on the icon, and use your mouse to drag your photos to a folder on your computer. Once you connect your camera and turn it on, some operating systems will automatically run a program to help you remove your photos. In this case, simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

3. Run an application to remove your photos. If your camera does not appear on your desktop, try using a program like HP Photosmart Essential, iPhoto or the software included with the camera to remove your photographs. You may have to use the "import" option to open your pictures in the program before you can remove them. Click "import" to move your photos to your computer. Alternatively, you will be required to select the images you want to remove, and you will be given the option to remove them from your camera. Choose this option if it's offered.

4. Some software programs will only copy the photos from your camera to your computer, leaving the original images on your camera. Once you have copied the photos, use the "select all" option before pressing "delete" to remove the photos from your camera. If you are removing the images manually, then use the "cut" option when moving your images to remove them. If all else fails, disconnect your camera from the computer and navigate the menus to find the"format" option. Select this to clear your camera's memory.

5. To safely disconnect your camera, use the "eject device" option. Once the device has been ejected, you can remove the USB cable from the computer and your camera.
