Mini Dvr & Spy Cameras

Mini spy cameras often feature their own DVR, so footage is stored directly on the camera and no extra equipment is needed. These cameras can capture full frame video and store it with built-in memory or through an expandable storage device.

Types

Different mini spy cameras include the pen-shaped, sphere-shaped and credit-card shaped models. Some small spy cameras are built into devices such as sunglasses, picture frames or ties.

Features

Because of the small size of the units, typical recording sizes are 340 by 320 or 680 by 640 pixels. These videos can be sent to cell phones or uploaded to a computer through a USB cable. Most of them also capture sound via a tiny microphone.

Function

The cameras work with one-button recording. Wireless remotes are also available for some of the cameras. A picture button can snap JPEG pictures that are also stored within the DVR of the device.

Considerations

Certain types of mini spy cameras are better than others. Consider the frequency and duration of intended use, as sufficient internal memory will save money and time. Higher resolution will create better video that can be used for productions or projects.

Accessories

Along with the camera, you can purchase a small stand, a TV-connection cable, something to hide the device in or extra storage. Most come with built-in batteries.
