Cell phone users are always looking for the newest and hottest ringtones for their phones. Unfortunately, finding free ringtones can be near impossible. Why not just create, upload and use your own ringtones? Thanks to Myxer, that is exactly what you can do. You can even send these ringtones to your phone and the phones of your friends and relatives.
Instructions
1. Log onto the Myxer website.
2. Click on the “Sign Up” link found on the homepage.
3. Click the green “Create Account” button underneath “Personal Account” on the next Web page if you want to be the only one who can access your custom ringtones. Select the “Artist Account” feature to upload the ringtones onto the Myxer website so that other users can access the ringtones.
4. Fill out the required information on the next page to create your account. A link will be sent to your email from Myxer to verify your account. Once you've finished filling out the information on Myxer, go to your email account and open that link to verify your Myxer account.
5. Go back to the Myxer website. Depending on your browser settings, you may need to sign in on the Myxer homepage, or you may already be logged in. Click on the “Share” tab at the top of the page to make a ringtone that will remain on the Myxer server. Other users will be able to download this ringtone. To simply create a ringtone to send directly to your phone or a friend's phone, select “Make Your Own.”
6. Click on “Browse” underneath “Make a New Ringtone or Wallpaper for Your Own phone.” A box will open. From there, select the folder that contains any music or audio file that you want to convert into a ringtone. Double-click the audio file to upload it. You should now see that file name in the text box to the left of the “Browse” tab.
7. Click the “Upload” tab, and the song will begin uploading to the Myxer website. This may take a few minutes, depending on the strength of your Internet connection. Once the song has uploaded, you will be on the “Customize Your Ringtone” page.
8. Locate the blue box with green squiggly lines. Inside that box will be a shaded rectangle. The shaded area represents what portion of the song will be your actual ringtone. Move your cursor over the center of the shaded rectangle to place it wherever you want the ringtone to begin. You can also place your mouse over either end of the ringtone. Your cursor will then turn into arrows. This will allow you to either lengthen or shorten your ringtone. You can also create the length of your ringtone by entering the seconds into the text box next to “Length.” You can name the file whatever you choose by typing in the box next to “Send As,” set the volume of the ringtone by clicking on the drag-down box next to “Volume” and even make the ringtone either fade in or out. Click the green arrow below the “Listen to This Section” heading to preview your ringtone. Once you're happy with the selection, click the “Save for Later” link or “Send to Phone” if you selected the “Make Your Own” tab. If you decided to share the ringtone, you will have different options at the bottom of your audio file. Underneath the file, you can change the name of the file, put in a description, choose a category for the ringtone by clicking on the drop box next to the “Category” heading and allow users to customize the ringtone themselves and even leave comments for you. You can also upload an image for the ringtone, but you do not have to do so. Once you're happy with the ringtone, select the “Finish” button.
9. Go back to your Myxer account page, and your ringtone(s) should be at the bottom of the page. Click on the ringtone to open the page for the file.
