Older home-movie cameras use 8 mm film.
The Super 8 film format is slightly larger than the standard 8 mm film strip. With the larger print comes improved resolution. Most Super 8 video cameras come with a built-in viewfinder, allowing you to see in a black-and-white image what the lens of the camera sees. If the viewfinder becomes damaged, you can repair the lens -- as long as the glass has not cracked or broken. If it has, your only option for repairing the viewfinder is to take it into a local camera repair shop.
Instructions
1. Flip up the viewfinder on the Super 8 camera. Turn the small focus knob until the viewfinder movies back into focus and you can see the content clearly.
2. Wipe off the Super 8 camera with a lens cleaning cloth to remove dust and other debris stuck to the viewfinder.
3. Look over the actual lens of the camera. If dust has collected on the lens, it will appear as spots on the viewfinder. Remove this dust again with the same clean, soft cloth.
4. Take the film camera into a local repair shop if the viewfinder is cracked; you can't do anything to fix this problem on your own.
