Discourage Cell Phone Tracking

You can block a GPS signal with a small handheld device.

Most smart phones made after 2008 are E911 capable. This means that when you make an emergency 911 call, a GPS chip in your phone is automatically activated so that emergency responders will immediately know your location. However, this also creates the potential for abuse since it is easy to install spy software into a phone without the owner's knowledge. This can allow someone to track your every movement and follow you wherever you go. If you want to prevent others from knowing your whereabouts, you can use a device that will block cell phone tracking.

Instructions

1. Purchase a GPS jamming device. These are small electronic devices that usually plug into your car's lighter. They send out a signal on the same frequencies used by most GPS devices that interferes with their data transmission. This makes you invisible to any GPS device within 30 to 300 feet, depending on the type of jammer that you purchase. You can find jammers at many spy and gadget stores. As of 2010, these gadgets cost between $75 and $300.

2. Plug the device into your car lighter using the adapter. This will keep the GPS jammer charged at all times. When you unplug it, the lithium-ion battery will allow it to run for up to two hours.

3. Switch the GPS jammer on. When it is turned on and functioning properly, there will be a green light on the device. It will begin transmitting an inaudible signal that will block the frequencies of most GPS devices. This effectively renders you invisible.
