Test A Canon Efs 1755

Test your Canon lens upon purchase in case it has any defects.

The Canon EFS 17-55 mm lens is a pro-sumer SLR lens that fits all Canon EOS camera bodies. The lens is designed for super-wide angle and medium-wide angle shots. The lens features both auto focus and manual focus modes and has a maximum aperture of f2.8. Testing the functionality of the Canon 17-55 mm lens involves running it through its basic functions.

Instructions

1. Line up the red dot on the back of the lens with the red dot on the lens mount of the body. Turn the lens clockwise until you hear a clicking noise. The lens is attached and ready to test.

2. Move the focus switch on the lens to "AF" to set the Canon 17-55 to automatic focusing mode.

3. Turn the mode dial to "Av" to change the camera mode to aperture priority mode. Turn the zoom ring on the lens so it's set to 17 mm and set the aperture to f2.8 using the main dial.

4. Place a subject to photograph in front of a distinguishable background.

5. Press the shutter release half way. If the lens is working properly, it will automatically focus on the subject.

6. Press the shutter release completely to take a photo. The result is a picture of the subject in front of a blurred out background. If this is the result, the auto focus on the Canon 17-55 lens is functioning properly. Zoom the lens to 55 mm and take another shot to see if the lens properly functions for tighter shots.

7. Turn the switch on the lens from "AF" to "MF" to set the lens to manual mode. Turn the focus ring on the end of the lens until you reach the desired effect. Press the shutter release all the down to take the picture. In manual focus mode, pressing the shutter release down half way does nothing.
