A stock certificate is a legal document that designates ownership of specific shares of stock in a corporation. Here is create a stock certificate using the minimum form and content requirements set forth by the Model Business Corporation Act (MBCA).








Instructions


1. Find or create a stock certificate template to use. If you are using Microsoft Office, templates are available in Microsoft Word. You can also download and print free templates from various online sources. In addition to free templates, there are many that can be purchased online.


2. Customize the template so it includes the name of the corporation and the state under which it is organized.


3. Fill in the name of the person to whom the stock is issued, as well as the number and class of the shares being issued in the appropriate spaces.


4. Type or hand write the date that the stocks are being issued and have two officers of the corporation sign the certificate. Typically, the president and the secretary will sign, however, any officer with authorization may sign the stock certificate.
