Hook Up Car System Equalizers

External equalizers are somewhat less common elements of car audio systems than in previous years, mainly because aftermarket receivers feature fairly sophisticated built-in equalizers. However, for the audio enthusiast looking for the ultimate in sound quality, a car audio equalizer used in conjunction with external amplifiers offers greater flexibility in how you configure the sound of your car audio system.

Instructions

1. Connect an RCA patch cable between your car stereo's "Front, Left and Right" preamp outputs and the equalizer's "Front Left and Right Input" jacks. Match the colors on the plugs with those on the jacks---red to red and white to white.

2. Connect an RCA patch cable between your car stereo's "Rear, Left and Right" preamp outputs and the equalizer's "Rear Left and Right Input" jacks. Match the colors on the plugs with those on the jacks---red to red and white to white.

3. Connect an RCA patch cable between your equalizer's "Front, Left and Right Ouput" jacks and the amplifier's "Front Left and Right" jacks. Match the colors on the plugs with those on the jacks---red to red and white to white.

4. Connect an RCA patch cable between your equalizer's "Rear, Left and Right Ouput" jacks and the amplifier's "Rear Left and Right" jacks. Match the colors on the plugs with those on the jacks---red to red and white to white.
