Choose A Nikon

Nikon manufactures both digital and film cameras.

Nikon has been producing cameras since the early 1900's. Throughout the years the company has manufactured cameras that are designed for the most novice photographer right through to the most advanced professional. Different cameras have different available features. Certain features will appeal to some photographers while others may not interest them at all. When looking to buy a Nikon camera there are a few things you can do to help you choose which one is best for you.

Instructions

1. Set a budget. Nikon cameras range from a few hundred dollars to several thousands. Whether you end up buying new or used, determining how much you want to spend on your Nikon camera should be your first step.

2. Determine what the camera will be used for. Will it be used as an easy to operate point and shoot that you carry with you in your jacket or purse? Will it be used inside a studio for portrait photography? Or will it be used outdoors for shooting sports and other events? There are specific Nikon models for almost every photographic purpose, so narrowing down your search by knowing what your primary needs will be is the next key step.

3. Once you've determined your specific photographic needs, write a list of features that you must have in order to meet those needs. If you're shooting sports, you will need a camera that focuses fast and will allow you to take a number of pictures very quickly. If you plan on shooting portraiture or high end fashion pictures, you'll want a camera with a large sensor and a high mega pixel capturing ability for fine detail. If you are leaning towards a simple point and shoot camera, then the size and portability of the camera may be more important. Once you have your list of desired features, arrange them in order of importance.

4. Research the models that match your needs and budget the best. Keep in mind which features are most important to you as you may have to sacrifice some in order to get others. Don't forget to compare the prices from store to store! Price mark up ranges from retailer to retailer, so you may be able to get the same model for a few dollars less if you do your homework.

Once you have determined the model you need and found the retailer that will give you the best price, you're ready to buy your Nikon!
