Replace The Ir Cable On A Tivo

The IR cable allows you to change the channels on your cable box using the Tivo remote. The Tivo remote sends the channel change signal to the Tivo, which in turn sends the signal to the IR cable and to the cable box. The end of the IR cable has two IR transmitters that communicate with the IR receivers on the cable box. The reason you need an IR cable is because some cable boxes do not have a direct interface for the Tivo to use to change channels.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the IR cable from the back of the Tivo and detach the IR transmitters from the cable box to remove the IR cable.

2. Peel back one side of the double-sided placement sticker and stick it to the inner side of one of the IR transmitters on the IR cable. Repeat with the other IR transmitter.

3. Peel back the other side of the sticker and attach the IR transmitters above and below the IR receiver on the cable box. Make sure the IR transmitters stick out from the front of the cable box about 1 1/2 inches.

4. Connect the other end of the IR cable into the port on the back of the Tivo that is labeled "IR."
