Cancel A Prepaid Cell Service

Prepaid cell phones are great for people who don't want a cellular phone plan or whose credit doesn't meet the standards set for most carriers. You are in control of the minutes of a prepaid cell phone and you don't have a monthly bill. But what if you don't want the prepaid service anymore? The service is simple to cancel by following one of two methods.

Instructions

Method I of Ending the Prepaid Service

1. The first method of ending the service involves calling the cellular carrier. To cancel the service, call the customer service number of the carrier. Give the customer service representative your cell phone number or the phone's Electronic Serial Number (ESN). The ESN is located within the phone's setting and is also located underneath the battery of the phone.

2. Make sure you have used up any remaining minutes on the phone. If minutes are remaining, they will be removed once the phone is turned off.

3. Once the phone is off, decide if you want to recycle the phone or sell the phone.

Method II of Ending the Prepaid Service

4. The second method of ending the service is to use up any remaining minutes and not loading anymore. All prepaid cellular carriers have a set amount of time that the phone will remain active without minutes. Once this time is up, the phone is deactivated and the service is over.

5. Once the phone is turned off, you can recycle the phone at any local cell phone shop or sell the phone.

6. Prepaid cell services are not connected to your credit. You don't have to worry about a contract or any fees related to ending your service. Once the phone is off, you are free to go to another carrier or just not have a phone.
