What Is A Component Speaker System

When you're in your car, no matter what music you enjoy, you want it to sound good; for the overall best car audio experience, a component speaker system is the way to go.

System

Component speaker systems usually consist of four speakers and a filter; the housing is an important consideration as well.

Tweeter

A pair of tweeter speakers provides the high frequencies, usually producing between 2,000 to 20,000 hertz.

Woofer

The woofer gives the low frequencies, or bass sounds, and provide about 40 hertz.

Crossover

The crossover is a filter that splits the audio into separate frequency bands. Since the average speaker can't handle the extreme high or low frequencies, the crossover splits the signal for the optimal audio experience.

Housing

The housing, which holds the speakers in place, is extremely important. Rubber works best, as it is durable and can handle most temperature differences.

Cost

Prices vary by brand names, but look to spend around $150 to $200. Keep on eye out for sales, as there are often good deals to be found.
