Use A Microphone On A Stereo Receiver

Most home-use microphones use a 1/8 inch plug.

Plugging in a microphone to a stereo receiver, such as a stereo, mixer, amplifier, or equalizer, gives you sound through a left and right audio channel. The setup allows you to create a home karaoke system, or, if you have a recording device and mixer attached to the stereo, you can record a radio show or music.

Instructions

Instructions

1. Make sure the microphone is stereo ready by checking the strips on the side of the plug. Two black strips indicate a stereo ready mic.

2. Plug the microphone into the audio input. Most home-use microphones use 1/8 inch plugs, but for a stereo jack you'll need a 1/4 inch plug. Buy a 1/4 to 1/8 inch adapter to plug into your audio inputs if the sizes from the receiver and mic plugs do not match.

3. Turn on the mic and the receiver.

4. Speak into the microphone.

5. Adjust the volume for the audio output, such as headphones or speakers.
