Convert A Contact List In A Palm Treo Pro

If you have a Palm smart phone, such as a Treo Pro, the contacts that you enter into the phone are stored as a list in the "Contacts" section. If you want to convert the contact list on your Palm Treo Pro for use on another phone, the process is simple. All Palm smart phones use the same syncing method, so in order to convert a Palm Treo Pro contact list for use on another device, you can transfer it to the computer via Palm Desktop.

Instructions

1. Download and install Palm Desktop to your computer if you do not already have the application installed. Palm Desktop comes on a CD with any Palm smart phone, but it can also be downloaded for free at any time from the Palm site (see Resources).

2. Connect the Palm Treo Pro to the computer. Use the cord provided with Treo Pro to make the connection between the device and an available USB port on the computer.

3. Sync the contact list from the Palm Treo Pro to Palm Desktop. Launch Palm Desktop and the Treo Pro appears automatically in the "Device" pane. Click on the Treo Pro in the window and then click the HotSync button, which appears as a red and blue arrow turning in a circle. Scroll down the application list on the Treo Pro, select the "HotSync" option and press the "Palm" button to begin the sync.

4. Disconnect the Palm Treo Pro from the computer and connect a second Palm device to the computer using the provided cord. Once Palm Desktop shows the new device in the "Device" pane, click the HotSync button in Desktop again and then select "HotSync" on the Palm device. The information that was pulled from the Palm Treo Pro transfers onto the new Palm device.

5. Unplug the second Palm from the computer when the sync is done. Scroll up to "Contacts" and press the "Palm" button. All of the contacts from the Palm Treo contact list appear as contacts in the new device.
