Help With A Bose Radio

Bose radios are self-contained systems with the antennas, receiver and speakers all in one unit. Each radio comes with the main unit, a remote control and a power cord. You can set up the radio in minutes. The radios play AM and FM broadcasts, and also have a clock with an alarm feature.

Installation

For the best sound quality, chose a location for the radio near a wall but away from the corner of a room, and across the room from where you will normally listen to the radio. Plug the power cord into the radio and an electrical outlet. The FM antenna is integrated into the power cord, so straightening the cord will improve FM reception. The remote control comes with a battery already inside.

To set the clock, hold one of the "time" buttons on the remote control until the clock displays "clock set." Then press the "time +" and "time -" buttons to adjust the time. After 5 seconds of inactivity, the clock will set.

Troubleshooting

If your Bose radio is not playing any sound, make sure that the radio is set to FM or AM and turned on, and that the volume control is turned up. The radio will also mute automatically when headphones are plugged in, so make sure nothing is in the headphone jack. If you are trying to play sound from an external source, check that the external source is turned on and connected to the radio through the socket labeled "Aux in."

If the remote control does not work, first try using it closer to the unit. If there is still no response, the battery may be dead or installed upside down. The battery should be placed so that the positive side points upward. The lighting and dust in your room may also be interfering with the remote. Try adjusting the lighting, or shutting blinds to block sunlight.

If you are getting poor FM reception, make sure the power cord is extended and straightened completely. In some areas, the antenna may not be powerful enough to pick up all the local stations. You can purchase a more powerful antenna and connect it through the "Aux in" socket.

AM antennas can experience interference from nearby electronics. If you have poor AM reception, try moving the radio farther away from other electronic devices in the room. You can sometimes also improve reception simply by experimenting with minor adjustments to the angle of the radio.

If you are unable to fix the problems on your own, you can contact Bose's support service through www.bose.com or in some cases exchange the radio through Bose's warranty.
