Install Cyanogenmod6 0 For Evo 4g

The HTC EVO 4G has Google's Android operating system.

For users with a rooted HTC EVO 4G, the third-party Android firmware CyanogenMod adds functionality that users can't get from the version of Android installed by carriers. If your own EVO is rooted, though, you can take advantage of CyanogenMod 6.0 through the automated installation package available through the group's website.

Instructions

1. Open up an Internet browser and navigate to CyanogenMod's stable downloads page for the EVO 4G (cyanogenmod.com).

2. Download the CyanogenMod 6.0 package. This will be located at the bottom of the available downloads list.

3. Connect your EVO to a computer with the USB cable. The larger end of the cable fits into an available USB port on your computer, while the smaller end fits into the phone.

4. Set the phone to "Disk Mode" and open "My Computer."

5. Open a second folder and navigate to where the CyanogenMod package was downloaded to. Copy this file onto your phone's SD card.

6. Turn off your phone.

7. Hold the "Power" and "Volume Down" buttons to reboot the phone into HBOOT mode. Use the volume rocker to scroll down to "RECOVERY." Press on your EVO's trackpad button to go into recovery mode. A menu with multiple options will be shown in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

8. Use the rocker to scroll down to "Install zip from sdcard." Press the trackpad button.

9. Select "Choose zip from sdcard." Now, your SD card's contents will be displayed onscreen, including the CyanogenMod package you transferred over earlier.

10. Select the package and use the trackpad to approve the installation process on the next onscreen prompt. Here, a second prompt will be displayed onscreen which shows CyanogenMod's installation progress. Once the bar disappears, reboot your phone to finish the installation process.
