An SD card is a memory card that can be used in a variety of electronic devices, such as MP3 players, cameras and cell phones. SD cards are available in a variety of sizes and shapes. To use an SD card for music storage in your cell phone, consult your owners manual to see what type it uses. As of 2011, most current cell phones come with a memory card. Putting music on an SD card for your phone is relatively easy.
Instructions
1. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable (or the cable recommended for your phone). If you do not have a cable, you can use a memory card reader. Some computers include memory card readers built-in.
2. Choose the "disk drive" option on your cell phone if asked what kind of connection to establish. All cell phones vary slightly, and some phones may connect without asking any questions.
3. Go to the "Start" menu on your computer and choose "My Computer." (If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, it will say "Computer.")
4. Look for "Removable Disk" on your list of drives and double-click to open it. This is the way to view anything stored on your SD card.
5. Locate any music files on your computer that you want to move to the SD card for your phone. Drag and drop any music files from your computer to the SD card folder that you have open on your computer.
6. Disconnect your phone or the SD card reader from your computer. Make sure you disconnect "safely" by following your computer's recommended method, such as using the Eject or Safely Remove Hardware function. Your songs are now on your SD card. If you used an SD card reader, insert the SD card back into your phone.
