Determine The Audio Recording Performance Of A Camcorder

When buying a camcorder, sound quality is an extremely important factor to consider. In order to find the best camera for your money, it helps to determine the audio recording performance of the camcorders you are considering purchasing.

Instructions

1. Research online and consumer magazines for information regarding various camcorders. Check customer feedback regarding audio quality.

2. Compare the microphone placement on the camcorders. Some have front-mounted microphones which pick up dialog better, while others have top-mounted microphones which pick up dialog and the surrounding noise.

3. Determine the type of microphone the camera has. Unidirectional microphones will pick up sound from the single direction that the camera is pointed, while an omni-directional microphone will pick up sound in all directions.

4. See which cameras have wind-filter features. This will help reduce the sound of wind and other background noises.

5. Refer to the charts that compare audio quality, and select the camcorder that fits your needs.
