Features
The FP10 recording system features Apple's FireWire high-speed serial bus, which transfers data at faster rates than standard USB devices. This device features a 96K sampling rate, and the sampling rate refers to how many samples the device can capture per second. It has eight analog microphone/line inputs and eight analog outputs, and it also has two instrument inputs. You can switch the first two inputs between an instrument and a microphone, and you can switch the rest of the inputs between your line and microphone.
Hardware/Software
The front panel of this recording system has a stereo headphone output and a mix control. It comes with two FireWire ports and eight XMAX Class A preamplifiers. Class A means that the preamplifier sound is never distorted because the preamp's circuit is always in the "On" state. This system comes with the Studio One Artist recording and production software program, which includes the Native Effects plug-ins for adding sound effects and virtual instrument sounds to your recordings. This program features a drag-and-drop interface for adding components.
Compatibility
You must have 1 GB of RAM to run this program. On PCs, the FP10 recording system is compatible with Windows XP with the Service Pack 2, Vista and Windows 7. It is also compatible with AMD Athlon 64 and Intel Pentium 4 1.6-GHz processors. On Mac systems, the recording system is compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.7 or later versions, and it is compatible with Intel Core Solo 1.6-GHz or PowerPC G4 1.25-GHz processors. For both systems, you must have an Internet connection, DVD-ROM drive and an IEEE 1394 FireWire 400 port. The company recommends that you have either an external or internal storage drive.
Additional Information
Use this system to record sources like pianos, horns, guitars, drums and vocals. The preamplifiers included with this system run on 30-volt power rails, which allow you to capture extreme high and low sounds. Always keep your receipt of purchase to qualify for warranty service. As of 2011, the FP10 recording system costs $799.95.
