Soft Reset An Htc Touch

A soft reset is used to turn your HTC Touch off and then on. It differs from a hard reset, which restores your Touch to its default state. Performing a soft reset is helpful if your Touch is running slowly or if it's frozen. A soft reset may also be necessary if you're installing a new program. Sometimes resetting the device completes the installation. Your stylus is not required to soft reset your Touch, but the button is tiny, and the stylus tip fits perfectly. You can use the tip of a pen if necessary, but be careful.

Instructions

1. Close any running programs before beginning. If your HTC Touch is frozen, this may not be possible. Performing a soft reset without closing and saving your programs may cause you to lose unsaved data.

2. Examine the bottom edge of your HTC Touch. Look next to the USB connection; you'll see a tiny rubber button.

3. Press and hold the button with the tip of your stylus. Release the button when the screen begins to reset.

4. Wait for the HTC Touch to finish resetting. When it's complete, your Today screen will display.
