Rechargable batteries come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
From remote controls to mobile phones, most portable electronics rely on some sort of a chargeable battery. These batteries range from AAA to lithium ion batteries. However, regardless of type of device or the kind of battery, the basic recharging process is the same. With rechargeable batteries you rarely need to purchase a new power source, although over time the charge life of the battery does begin to die out.
Instructions
Lithium Ion
1. Turn off the device using the lithium ion battery. Cell phones, digital cameras and computers use lithium ion batteries. It is possible to charge equipment that uses lithium ion batteries while it is on, but it takes far longer to fully charge the battery while the device is operating. Most devices that use a lithium ion battery comes with a charger, as is the case with laptops, video cameras and cell phones.
2. Plug the battery charger into the charger connection port on the device.
3. Connect the opposite end of the charger into a local power outlet. The charger now begins to recharge the lithium ion battery in the device.
Reusable Battery
4. Locate a charger for your specific battery size (AA, AAA, D, etc.). These battery chargers are available at most stores that sell batteries, particularly electronics stores. When using a charger, you must have rechargeable batteries. Whether or not a battery is rechargeable should be printed on the battery's package and is sometimes even printed on the battery itself. Non-rechargeable batteries will not work in the charger.
5. Remove the reusable battery from the device it was used in, such as a flashlight or camera.
6. Slide the battery into the charger. Chargers typically hold up to four batteries at once.
7. Connect the charger to a power outlet and flip the power switch to "Charge." A light on the side of the charger appears while charging and then blinks out once the charge has finished and the battery is ready to use again.
